POMEGRANATES (2024), 5 minutes and 12 seconds
Director, Writer, Editor, Set Designer, Actor
“POMEGRANATES” is an experimental performance film inspired by films such as Daisies (1966) and Hausu (1977). The film explores a defiance of specified gender identities and love, all questioned by the protagonist Pome as they continue to receive unwanted phone calls and letters from an unknown man who wants them to change their ways and start acting “correctly”. The film is almost entirely in Norwegian with occasional Davvisámegiella (Northern Sámi) , which are both prominent languages in my families lineages.
tumult (2024), 5 minutes and 31 seconds
Director, Editor, Performer
“tumult” is an experimental performance film inspired by Kimsooja’s “A Needle Woman”. I often find that I struggle with perfectionism in my personal art practice. Through lots of reflection in college, I’ve realized that I tend to feel that I have lost control of a piece if it does not look exactly how I want it to. “tumult” is a project in which I don’t allow myself to have any control at all, allowing the friends and family I collaborated with to position me in frame and do whatever they’d like. I included behind the scenes audio from films that I either never finished or had a hard time making. From doing the dishes to playing games from my childhood, this film shows the art of letting go.

“Congratulations” is a film about femininity and the expectations placed upon people born female. We used found footage of actors and advertisements with footage we shot of a meltdown with flour and a woman baking a cake. When installing this project, we projected the film onto a white canvased wall.
